Guards and protective covers for fire alarm devices

This line protects devices that are already on the wall. A guard or a damage stopper takes the hit that would otherwise break an appliance, and in several occupancies it also discourages the tampering and false pulls that cost a building a service call every time. The products here cover wire guards for strobes and for open area imaging detectors, damage stoppers for strobes, horn strobes, beam smoke detectors and motion detectors, polycarbonate dome covers in flush and surface mount versions with and without a fire label, break glass stoppers, weatherproof versions for exterior and wash down areas, spacers that convert a flush cover to a surface cover, and a break glass door with key lock access.

Several of the stoppers carry their own battery powered horn, which sounds when the cover is lifted. That is the version specified where nuisance pulls are the problem rather than accidental impact, most often in schools, gymnasiums, corrections, behavioral health and dormitories. Warehouses, parking structures, loading docks and industrial floors usually need the plain version, where the risk is a forklift and not a person.

Choose by starting from the device being protected, then match the mounting condition, flush or surface, because those covers are not interchangeable and a spacer is often what bridges them. Confirm the cover is listed for use with the device underneath it. Fit notes are on each product page.
