Commercial heat detectors
A heat detector is the right device where smoke detection would nuisance alarm: kitchens, mechanical and boiler rooms, parking garages, attics, dusty or dirty manufacturing space, loading docks and unconditioned areas. It responds to temperature rather than to products of combustion, so it is slower than a smoke detector by design and is chosen for reliability in a hostile environment, not for early warning.

Choose the temperature rating against the normal ambient of the space, with enough margin that ordinary operating heat never trips it, then decide whether rate-of-rise helps or hurts. Rate-of-rise responds faster to a developing fire but is the wrong choice where a process or a piece of equipment creates fast legitimate temperature swings, and rate compensation models are built for exactly that problem. Confirm spacing against the listed spacing for the model, check whether the detector requires a separate base, and match the addressable protocol to the panel.
