Aspirating smoke detection systems
An aspirating detector does not wait for smoke to reach a ceiling device. A fan draws air continuously through a network of sampling pipes and pushes it across a detection chamber, which is why this technology is used where very early warning matters or where spot detection does not work well. This line covers VESDA-E detectors in one pipe and four pipe configurations, with LED indication or an onboard display, scanner units that report which pipe saw the smoke, micro-point addressable aspirating detectors, LaserFOCUS and industrial laser detectors, remote display subracks and access points, standard display modules, open area imaging smoke detection emitters and imagers with standard and high power options, sampling tubes, test filters and alignment tools.
The usual homes for this equipment are data centers and telecom rooms, cold storage, high bay warehouses and distribution centers, clean rooms and manufacturing, historic buildings where ceiling devices are unwelcome, and any space with high airflow or a ceiling too high for reliable spot detection.
Selection runs from the space outward. The pipe layout and the number of sampling holes drive which detector you need, not the other way around, so the pipe design comes first.
