In-building public safety radio: BDA, DAS and components
Emergency responder radio coverage is now its own trade inside fire protection, and this line carries the full bill of materials for it. It covers single and dual band bidirectional amplifiers for public safety 700 and 800 MHz including Band 14, Class A and Class B units, all-in-one amplifiers with integrated battery backup and annunciator, separate battery backup units with built-in annunciators, external annunciators, fiber DAS masters and remotes, and upgrade licenses.
The passive side is here too: yagi donor antennas, indoor omni and directional panel antennas, directional couplers, tappers, power splitters, attenuators, termination loads, coaxial surge protectors, grounding kits, plenum and in-conduit coax and jumper assemblies, connectors, strip tools and weatherproofing. These systems go into buildings where the responder radio signal does not survive the structure: high rises, parking garages, below grade levels, hospitals, stadiums and large concrete or metal clad buildings. Design starts with the jurisdiction. Confirm the agency bands and channels, get authorization from the license holder, run a grid test to establish where coverage fails, then size the amplifier class and gain, the antenna layout and the passive budget from that survey.
